Hashtags and Hypothesis for Change
Our hypothesis for change is WE NEED MORE black, indigenous, people of color (BIPOC) in STEM. Our goals are to amplify and support current BIPOC STEM practitioners while creating pathways to access for newcomers. The ten years between 2020 and 2030 reflect a timeframe for achievable milestones in STEM workforce development. At the completion of this project we will permeate each STEM field with Black and Latinx STEM practitioners in numbers that demolish tokenism, change cultures, and importantly, create pathways for innovation from these populations that must be included at this crucial moment of interdependence for science and society. This cohort of talent will then have influence years to come by being champions and advocates with access to bring their voices and lived experiences to continue to weaken systemic barriers and finally design successful STEM strategies for all by all.
